Gordon Lowe, a retired accountant with
the massive marrow which he planted and forgot about, after it swelled
to an enormous, award-winning three and a half stone. After buying seeds
on the internet Gordon Lowe, 67, planted them in his allotment and
forgot about the vegetable. Then after six months of no care or
attention, father of three Mr Lowe from Portsmouth, Hants, returned to
the allotment to find the marrow had grown to a colossal size. He was
especially shocked as it was the first he had ever grown and admitted it
'was basically a mistake.'
